The People's Voice

So

So with less than a week to go to the election I thought it would be a good idea to start the choosing process. I have the above three choices for Georgia's costume and I wanted to poll to see which was the blogging crowd favorite. So cast your vote and I'll reveal the winner in our Halloween post.

Upstate Travels

Jim (Jay's dad) with Georgia and Aunt Joan with her grandchildren, Ruby and Caleb.

Last weekend we traveled to the upstate for the Gantt family reunion. We had beautiful weather and a great time at the Paris Mountain State Park for the reunion. There are A LOT of pictures and they are mostly for family BUT if you keep scrolling down you'll see some great pics I got of the girls on Sunday at Jay's Grandmother's house. Enjoy!

Sweet Georgia
There was a great field and playground near our shelter and the kids, big and small, were able to enjoy playing soccer, Frisbee and running around.

Katie Jo took this picture of Sarah and I. I think for a three year old she did a great job.

Jay and his Mini-Me

Mema, Georgia, Grandaddy and Katie Jo
This was taken on Saturday after the reunion. We were at my parents house and Katie Jo started walking the bricks like it was a balance beam. I ran to get my camera and take a picture because I can vividly remember doing the same thing as a child on the same bricks! Neat!

Mia and Katie Jo on Sunday morning. The cat KJ is holding has been at Mia's house for every Halloween that KJ can remember. It makes lots of meowing noises and then plays a song. Katie Jo loves it!

Mia and Georgia. Notice little fingers in the background trying to sneak a piece of candy!
The next series of pics were taken at Jay's Grandmother's house. These trees are the same ones Jay climbed as a little boy and he has many good memories of playing in the yard with his sisters and cousins. It was a beautiful day and the breeze was blowing. I got so many terrific pictures but these were the best. The trees at the front of the yard are pecan trees that Jay's dad and grandaddy planted! It was a special afternoon.

I love this picture. It's such a great family moment of Jay and his dad with the girls. I love that the house is in the background and they are in the shade of those pecan trees planted long ago. It's such a mix of history in the present.

This picture goes down as one of my all time favorites. Jim was chasing KJ and she would run screaming into my lap. I was able to snap a quick shot of her before she got to me. When I looked back at it later I couldn't believe how centered and perfectly aligned their faces were!

KJ had a little pile of pecans and I had to put one in my mouth if I wanted a shot with her.

Then she gave a little "cheese" smile.

15 Months

Georgia is already 15 months and I felt like I just wrote the 14th month update last week!

The biggest milestone this past month is her vocabulary. She has really started communicating. She can now say Wiggles, Dora, Katie Jo, bye, mama, and sometimes more. We started signing with her and so far she uses the sign for more, thank you and please. It's the cutest thing ever.

She is moving much faster on her feet and sometimes her movement would best be described as a lumbering jog! She is still going up and down the stairs on her own as much as we'll let her. And she now LOVES to climb into one of the kitchen chairs and stand. It makes her feel grown up I suppose.

Shoes! Oh my gosh how this child loves shoes. I wonder where in the world she got that from? She will get shoes and try to put them on herself. If they are Katie Jo's she is usually successful. It's amazing to watch. Then she prances around like she's hot stuff!

That's all I can think of for now. I'm tired and must go to bed! Georgia's a precious site and I could just eat her up every day.

Oh Happy Day

Well for five more years I am still a certified teacher for SC! I got my renewed certificate in the mail today and I felt an enormous amount of excitement and relief! I had Katie Jo take a picture of me with my new identity and then she needed me to take one of her the same way. Just a little reminder that it's not all about me! :)
