Upstate Travels

Jim (Jay's dad) with Georgia and Aunt Joan with her grandchildren, Ruby and Caleb.

Last weekend we traveled to the upstate for the Gantt family reunion. We had beautiful weather and a great time at the Paris Mountain State Park for the reunion. There are A LOT of pictures and they are mostly for family BUT if you keep scrolling down you'll see some great pics I got of the girls on Sunday at Jay's Grandmother's house. Enjoy!

Katie Jo being the daredevil as usual.

Sweet Georgia
There was a great field and playground near our shelter and the kids, big and small, were able to enjoy playing soccer, Frisbee and running around.

Katie Jo took this picture of Sarah and I. I think for a three year old she did a great job.

Jay and his Mini-Me

Mema, Georgia, Grandaddy and Katie Jo
This was taken on Saturday after the reunion. We were at my parents house and Katie Jo started walking the bricks like it was a balance beam. I ran to get my camera and take a picture because I can vividly remember doing the same thing as a child on the same bricks! Neat!

Mia and Katie Jo on Sunday morning. The cat KJ is holding has been at Mia's house for every Halloween that KJ can remember. It makes lots of meowing noises and then plays a song. Katie Jo loves it!

Mia and Georgia. Notice little fingers in the background trying to sneak a piece of candy!
The next series of pics were taken at Jay's Grandmother's house. These trees are the same ones Jay climbed as a little boy and he has many good memories of playing in the yard with his sisters and cousins. It was a beautiful day and the breeze was blowing. I got so many terrific pictures but these were the best. The trees at the front of the yard are pecan trees that Jay's dad and grandaddy planted! It was a special afternoon.

I love this picture. It's such a great family moment of Jay and his dad with the girls. I love that the house is in the background and they are in the shade of those pecan trees planted long ago. It's such a mix of history in the present.

This picture goes down as one of my all time favorites. Jim was chasing KJ and she would run screaming into my lap. I was able to snap a quick shot of her before she got to me. When I looked back at it later I couldn't believe how centered and perfectly aligned their faces were!

KJ had a little pile of pecans and I had to put one in my mouth if I wanted a shot with her.

Then she gave a little "cheese" smile.

Yes, we missed this weekend very much and it turns out having to stay behind for Austin's work wasn't worth it but too bad you can't see into the future. :( It looks like everyone had a great time getting together and I love the photos at Grandmother's house. I can't wait for all of our little ones to play together there as we did when we were kids. If only we lived 3 hours away instead of 10 hours. And I wasn't extremely pregnant. :) We missed you all! Thanks for sharing the great photos!
