Last Weekend

I am just now getting around to posting some pics from last weekend. I think if you get them in before the next weekend begins the blogging police won't get you.
In a nutshell, Jay and I went out on Friday, we went out on the boat Saturday, hung around the house Saturday afternoon, and Sunday was a blur as usual.
The pictures are in reverse order.

Here are some photos of the girls from Saturday afternoon. KJ found these sunglasses and she looked so funny after putting them on. It was hot which accounted for her crazy hair.

Earlier on Saturday we took the boat out for the first time. It was very choppy waters and my mother would have had a heart attack. I had a death grip on both girls. They both loved it though and we had a great time.

After riding around for awhile we dropped the anchor, rested and ate lunch.

Joni took this picture of us when we were on the way back. Under the two children was a very cute bathing suit, but doesn't that just say it all about the life of a mother?

Here is a picture of Jay and I from Friday night. He tied his bow in one attempt and it looked perfect! He got to sit by a girl who does campaign fundraising so I only got to talk to him when I needed the bread passed. We had a good time and I enjoyed catching up with our friends Matt and Patience.

Redneck Pool Party

Sometimes it's just too much trouble to lather up two children and walk the seven minutes to our neighborhood pool. So on a terribly hot day we packed up and drove to Wal Mart to buy a $6 blow-up pool. Then the girls got naked and jumped in. I had to show these photos of Georgia who looks so big standing up on her own. The baby pool (in the neighborhood) has really helped in the walking dept. She's still not very balanced but the water seems to help her get used to moving around. I had to edit these hot pink bottoms on her and I think it turned out pretty cute!

School's out for the summer

That's right, school is out, at least for me! I have been taking a graduate class this past month to get my re-certification for teaching. So every Monday and Wednesday for the last five weeks I've left my girls behind for four hours to sit in a class and learn about how to bring parents and the community into my classroom. The classroom I don't have! I had to make a lot of stuff up to create "what if" situations and there was a lot of wasted brain power used to find the perfect clip art to take up room on some very important projects! :) I am glad to be finished and now I can substitute in the fall and make the big bucks since I'm still a certified teacher.

710

This week we've had Vacation Bible School at our church. I've been teaching the third graders and it's been a great week. The number in the title line is how many kids we had on Tuesday! Seven hundred and ten! Isn't that amazing? That broke a record and I'm sure today we'll get an even higher number from yesterday's attendance. God is good!

Mommy's girl

After I came back from my weekend away I could tell Katie Jo had missed me by all the time she wanted to spend with me and the lack of time she wanted me spending with Georgia. I found her one afternoon asleep in my t shirt! She had found a way, even in her slumber, to have me right there with her!

Beauty on top of beauty

When babies attack

Mommy can I have this snack? She said "NO!" I must find a way to change her thinking.
I shall penetrate her with the "Blue Gaze."
Still no change. I must take matters into my own hands!
Arghhhhhhhh!

Fun with Friends

This past weekend I went to Hilton Head to meet up with my good buddies, Kelly and Elsa. We had a great time catching up, relaxing, and doing nothing at all. It was so nice to get away. This was my first time away from Georgia so I was in need of a break. I missed Jay and my girls but going away sometimes makes you realize how much you enjoy your every day life. Jay did a great job by himself and it is nice to leave and not feel anxious about what's going on at home. If you ever go to Hilton Head I suggest eating at Santa Fe. It was a southwestern menu and was excellent.

65th Wedding Anniversary Weekend

Yep, you read it right. Sixty five years my grandparents have been married, to each other! We had a big celebration this past Sunday, but the Saturday before we got together with all my cousins and their families for a joint cousin birthday/pool party. If you remember it was about hotter than a mad bull so some cool water was a welcomed relief from the heat. The cousins ranged in ages from 8 months to five so their were enough floats and swimmies to save a village from drowning. I promised not to post photos of the adults in their swim suits (or swimmies) so the pool pics are limited but the fun was not!

The kids table. I finally graduated and this picture proves it!

What a pretty cake it was!

On Sunday we had LOTS of family come for the church service and then had a catered lunch afterwards. It was good to see family members I hadn't see since I was a little girl.

My grandparents are an inspiration. Their love and devotion to each other is a testament of how marriage should really be.

I love you Mama and Papa! Thank you for the example you set and the lessons you've taught me.

God Bless Aunt Janice, who brought stickers. It helped entertain Katie Jo and Meghan.

The happy couple

Florida Trip May 2008

We traveled to Florida about three weeks ago to visit Jay's dad, Sarah, and his Grandmother. We had a fabulous time with them and Grandmother fed us some terrific meals, especially breakfast. It should be against the law to have a big, tasty breakfast like we did every morning!

We took Jay's dad's boat out a couple of time and the girls loved it. We docked at Caladesi island state park, which was recently voted the number one beach in the nation by "Dr. Beach." It was beautiful! White sand and crystal blue water!

A good time was had by all, but we were most glad to have family time and let the girls spend time with Granddaddy, Mema and Grandmother!

"Daddy, I'm not too sure of this." Georgia and Mema sharing lunch before we walked out to the beach.

Granddaddy buried KJ up to her waist in sand and she loved it.
Georgia kept her hat on and that made Mommy happy!
Sweet girl having fun.
We saw this little guy on the way out. KJ was most intrigued.
The girls were wiped out at the end of the day. Can you tell?
Mommy with her big girl.
Sleeping beauty. For a child who never falls asleep on the go, she was lights out within minutes of take off.

KJ wasn't too cooperative with this photo, but look at the hunk and pretty sailboat in the background.
Check out the pelicans behind her.
Jay's grandmother lives just up the street from his dad and Sarah so it was so nice to let KJ ride her bicycle up.
Georgia playing with Granddaddy.
Katie Jo and Granddaddy.

Day Two at the beach. Katie Jo loved having her Daddy line the shells up along her legs.
The whole family at the dock at Caladesi island.
Once again it was light's out for Georgia on the boat ride home.
