Lymania

So last weekend we made our way to Lyman for a little fun with family and friends. Well maybe just family this time since it was a real short trip.

Here I am with Gran on Sunday before we left.

Here I am with Gran and Pop. He was so excited to see me he didn't even bother changing out of his Sunday best.

We went over to see Mia Sunday and had a blast. She read me a book and Daddy clowned around with me.

Here I am doing my latest trick "touch down." When Momma or Daddy call it out to me I throw my hands up and smile real big.

On Saturday nite I got to visit with Granny and Papa for a late birthday dinner for Momma.

Granny and Papa brought Momma a watermelon for her birthday. I tried to pick it up. No luck though. It's a little too heavy, even for me!

Here I am with Uncle Brian. He was super happy to see me. He always lets me go outside and walk around. He's the only one who can stand the heat while following me around.

Daddy bought a funny lookin hat at the Byrnes football game on Saturday. I kind of feel like the flying nun.

A Tale of Two Pigs

So apparently every little girl must go through the pig tail rite of passage and today was my P-Day, so to speak. Momma scooped my hair up into two little twigs and secured it with some sassy bows. You're probably thinking she had to wrestle me to the ground to accomplish this feat, but in fact all it took was letting me play with the phone for a few moments. Thankfully they were high enough on my head that I didn't mess them up in the car seat, but even better was the rat nest just below from turning my head side to side on the way to the park. That's why all pics are from the front! All my friends thought my new do looked pretty cool. I had lots of fun running around and getting sweaty. I passed out on the ground once and thought it was the heat, but apparently I was transmitting information through my new antennas. Just kidding!

Birthday Weekend

Momma turned 31 this weekend and man does that seem old! We had a great weekend with Aunt Joni who came to visit all of us but especially me. Friday night we grilled out and ate Daddy's famous hamburgers. Saturday I helped Aunt Joni cut the grass and helped Momma fold the laundry. Then Saturday nite the grownups went out for Momma birthday dinner. Sunday was church as usual and I got to catch up with my friends. Then Sunday afternoon we went to a really cool park and I slid down the slide all by myself for the first time. After sliding a bizillion times and sweating like a horse we left. As if that wasn't enough fun we went to the soccer fields to kick the ball around. I was exhausted, but it was a great time!

Our trip to Downtown Charleston

This past week Momma and I decided to drive all the way downtown to see some sites. We started at the Battery and looked out onto the water. We walked around White Pointe Park and climbed the many stairs to the gazebo that sits in the middle. Then we drove over to Waterfront Park. There was a huge sprinkler that Momma wouldn't let me get in. Somethin about bacteria and catchin the plague. So we walked out to the end and man was it windy. Thankfully my cute bow didn't blow out into the water. Lastly, we went for a swing and then walked around before leaving.

Fishy Day

Today we went to the aquarium. It was raining cats and dogs so we decided it would be best to spend our time somewhere fun but indoors. So we got an early start and it was a good thing because when we left there was a line a mile long to get tickets.

So when we walked in there was a man there to greet us and he was holding something slithery and skinny. He called it a corn snake but it didn't look like it had come off the cob! I was scared to touch it at first but then I reached out and felt with one finger. That was enough so then we pushed on.

This trip was my first walking tour and I really enjoyed cruising from one tank to the next on my own two feet. Standing close to the tank and "touching" the fish was pretty neat. This summer is the Summer of Turtles so we got to see turtles of all sizes.

I guess that's about it. Enjoy the show folks.

This is me and Daddy with a red-tailed hawk.

Can everyone see the cute turtles?

Sure hope this glass holds!

I want this one right here for dinner!

Sorry Momma cut off your head Mr. Macaw!

Cool Dude!

New Camera

We finally have a new camera after months of smacking our old one just to get a visual on the LCD screen. So I'm posting a few of our new shots. Probably can't tell a difference but we're happy nonetheless. The first is of KJ with her friend Reilly Kaye. They are the same age minus three months apart. Next is of KJ reading to the dog, Baby. Then KJ being silly with the afghan in the bonus room. Lastly, is of KJ with her Pop who came down to Chucktown for the day.

July wrap-up

So it's been a pretty busy and exciting month. So much so that my Momma couldn't get any pictures posted or any info on my latest adventures written up. We thought we'd put together a little synopsis so you wouldn't feel slighted.
After our Fourth of July bash Gran came down the next week and we spent some quality "girl time" together. Then Pop and Uncle Brian came for the weekend and I took them to the pool. We all learned that the baby pool at 5 in the afternoon after a 100 degree day is not what you would call refreshing. Aunt Joni came one weekend with two of her friends, Ania and Alex. We all went out to eat at Sticky Fingers and Momma said I should feel lucky that young college girls wanted to hang out with old fogies and a baby! Aunt Joni missed out on being in a photo but she took some cute ones of me and my folks. The last week in July we traveled to Lyman and got to spend time with the usual family plus Aunt Linda, G. G. Byars, and Granddaddy Byars. G. G. read to me in a rocking chair used with all the grandchildren and now the great-grandchildren.
So have I reached any milestones this past month? You bet! I have added several words to my vocabulary including fish, kitty cat, bye bye along with mama and dada. I can point to several items in a book when asked including a ball, baby, and bananas. I also am getting quite good at following directions like "kick the ball, throw the ball, and close the door." I especially like the last one and Momma said that could be considered my first chore. And last, I hope! I also have figured out how to bounce. Not jumping yet but bouncing by bending my legs while standing up. I can do it on the couch or bed much to my parents chagrin. I also can give a high five now when asked and my parents think it's quite cute. And even cuter than that, if you can believe it, is that my new dance move is to stamp my right foot to the beat!
I guess the most exciting thing is that I now recognize Teddy Grahams by the box. Momma and Daddy watched me one day as I took it out of the pantry, figured out how to open the top, put my little hand inside, and come out with my prize. Just as I was putting the sweet Teddy to my mouth Momma called my name and I just about jumped out of my skin. They were watching the whole time those silly rascals.
This month was also filled with celebrations. Cousin Meghan turned one at the end of June. My friend Reilly Kaye celebrated her first birthday this month and five days later cousin Aidan celebrated his.
On a sad note, this month also saw the passing of my friend Emory. In his short twenty months he touched many lives and I'm glad I got to know him. He'll be missed by many but one day we'll see him again in Heaven.
I think that just about covers it. I'm sure there is so much more since I seem to be doing something new every day according to Momma. In short the dress says it all CAROLINA CUTIE!!
