Christmas Day 2008

Christmas Day was our funnest yet! It started at 6:30 when Katie Jo came and climbed into bed with us. She and I curled up cheek to cheek and slept until 7:30. I could stand the smell of cinnamon coffee no more and had to leave her still sleeping in bed. To think we would actually all have to wait on her to wake up!
We got a few peaceful minutes of coffee-sipping time and then I heard her little footsteps. She went in to the bonus room and curled up with Uncle B for a few more minutes while she shook off the cobwebs. When she FINALLY decided to join us she was a little foggy on the reason for the site before her. She hesitantly walked towards the items Santa left for her and immediately picked up the ONE item she had consistently asked for: a camera. She took a quick look at it and then moved on. She inspected each item and then decided she wanted to open the wrapped gifts from mom and dad in her big red sack. After about three gifts Georgia finally woke and decided to join us. After that it was a blur of unwrapping. We took a break for breakfast and then set to the task of opening Uncle B's, Gran and Pop's gifts out on the porch. Uncle B spoiled them with many things but Georgia's favorite was the bouncing zebra and Katie Jo's was her Red Rider tricycle. Thank you Brian for such thoughtful gifts! Gran and Pop gave the girls many things too but the highlights were definitely the computer for Katie Jo (which she plays on for at least an hour everyday) and the farm animal set for Georgia. I personally loved the beautiful dresses! After that we opened the gifts from Aunt Jo and the Groves. Aunt Jo gave each of the girls a Disney DVD and Katie Jo and Georgia have both gotten miles of travel out of the purple stroller from Aunt Jess and family.
With such nice weather we were able to go outside to enjoy the new plasma cars, tricycle and sand table, in our PJ's no less!
After a morning of play the girls laid down for a rest and we got to work on our Christmas meal. We once again fried a turkey and this year I bought a whole, 11lb beast of meat for us to feast on. We had the greatest time getting everything ready, including the beautiful table with my Christmas china that I love so dearly! Joni and her friend Justin came to join us and bless him he was a real trooper for getting involved on a major holiday with people he didn't know! It was fun to have a crowd though! We sat down to eat around 5 and afterwards had about nine thousand things to wash! Thanks to my mom, we got it all done and I finally sat down about 8 o'clock. It was a great day and I can't wait until next year!

You forgot to mention the part where Katie Jo was nice to and even played with Justin...I have never seen her be so nice to a stranger... cute pics. I guess I should have brought my camera because I don't have any pictures from Christmas...that's very sad.
