Fourth of July 2008

I hope everyone had a great July 4th. We had the best one I can ever remember. It was such a relaxing, fun day with good company, sun, and food.
We went out on the boat in the harbor and anchored at Morris Island. We took our friends Mark and Kayci and their three kids with us. The kids had a great time on the beach and playing in the water. There were lots of people out on the island and we found a Red Bull tent with a slip and slide. There were some families out there with children but it was mostly young adults. They weren't drinking Red Bull either. Several people went down the slide but no children. After making sure it was actually slick with water we let Katie Jo slide down. Then Kayci's son Bryce went a few times. It's safe to say Katie Jo was the only person sliding with a Minnie Mouse cap on and there's an even better chance she was the only one doing it sober. We left soon after so the "young folk" could continue their good time. We also stumbled onto a blue crab and caught it in a bucket. The kids enjoyed looking at it but no one was brave enough to touch it. Then a lady came up to see it and she turned out to be a marine biologist (of course). She told us it was a female crab and you could tell since it didn't have any pincher's. The kids all got their science lesson for the day and then we let the she crab go.
On a side note, someone asked about "our" boat. It's not ours. Jay's dad and Sarah were generous enough to let us borrow it for a couple of months. The gas isn't free but the fun is!

This is Reilly Kaye. She looks like a french artist lost on the beach. Little Georgia enjoying the sand

This was taken on the ride back. It's a view of the marina at Patriot's Pointe with the Yorktown in the back ground.
This was a view to the back of the boat. Katie Jo fell asleep in Mark's lap.
When we docked, Mark had to put Katie Jo down to help Jay with the boat. I didn't want her face to get any more sun so we put a pair of shorts over it. Kayci said it looked like we were trying to smuggle her in. She stayed like this until we got her out to get in the car.
Reilly Kaye fell asleep too

We took some self family photos after we got back. The best one is at the top of the blog. I put this one in because the expression on Katie Jo's face made me laugh out loud.
We grilled out and then Kayci and family came back over for dessert and fireworks. Our fireworks consisted on sparklers and a few small ones that wouldn't scare the little kids too much. It was great fun.

Katie Jo enjoyed all the fireworks but the ones that made loud popping noises were not her favorite.

Sounds like such a fun day. I have to say, I giggled when I first read you guys went over to Morris Island. We have a single friend who is a regular over there with his boat. We have been invited a few times, but we would have to get a sitter, and I think that scene may be more than we could handle anyway. haha!
Happy 4th! That is a great family picture, btw.

Yeah, I don't think we had a clue going in what was in store for us! We were thinking it would be a quiet island with some other boats and a beach for the kids. Thankfully, we got there late enough to be pretty far from all the wildness!

It is so good to see your family and know how ya'll are doing. I didn't know you had a little boy. He is so cute and your daughter is so pretty. Congrats on them both!
